| The
Inherited Cardiac Disease Center (ICD Center) at Beth Israel Medical Center
in New York City focuses on treating individuals and families
affected by genetic cardiac arrhythmia
conditions, such as Brugada syndrome and Long QT syndrome. Brugada
syndrome and Long QT syndrome are
inherited cardiac conditions that can produce arrhythmias, which may result
in sudden cardiac death.
The director of the ICD Center is Steven
J. Evans, MD, section Chief of Electrophysiology at Beth Israel Medical
Center. The staff of the ICD Center includes a full-time Genetic
Counselor, four Cardiac
Electrophysiologists and two Nurse Practitioners. The Center has full
clinical and diagnostic capabilities, including both non-invasive and
invasive testing for Brugada syndrome and Long QT syndrome. The ICD Center
also has collaborative research efforts with multiple academic and clinical
centers.
Diagnosis and therapy for Brugada syndrome and Long QT syndrome are always
